POSITION SUMMARY:

This role reports to the Engineering Manager and will assist the Project Managers. As a Project Engineer, you are responsible for the coordination and execution of the technical aspects of capital expenditure projects (small or large), which will be throughout the life cycle of the project. Starting with the initial concept, continuing with the feasibility study, and concluding with commissioning and transfer to operations.

The Project Engineer should have an interest in multiple disciplines related to engineering activities, which can range from mechanical, electrical, automation, civil, structural, and environmental.

The Project Engineer will assist the Project Manager and coordinate technical engineering aspects of a project for all business segments of the organization with the following contributions:

  • Collects site information (existing drawings, process flow, topography, etc.).

  • Develops conceptual designs (Layout, Flow sheet, Mass Flow, Equipment specification, etc.).

  • Coordinates engineering activities for the projects.

  • Uses and promotes the group's best practice principles regarding Engineering, Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality.

  • Ensures all safety policies and standards are applied to be able to execute the projects with zero harm.

ATTRIBUTES:

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Solidworks, SketchUp, Inventor, or any other equivalent CAD software. (Essential for the position)

  • Knowledge of various process equipment and bulk material handling.

  • Basic knowledge in civil, structural, electrical, and automation engineering.

  • Knowledge of construction.

  • Knowledge of process and mass flow calculations.

  • Capacity to forecast, analyze and mitigate technical risks.

  • Reporting - accurately and timely.

  • Able to communicate in a multicultural environment (written and verbal).

  • Able to communicate internally as well as with external third parties.

  • Able to work under pressure and in a matrix organization with teams located in several locations.

  • Open-minded as it relates to change and innovation.

  • A team player, who is committed to the group's values and ethics.

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks/projects assignments.

  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Projects.

  • Able to work outside in severe weather conditions as well as exposure to high temperatures, noise, and dust.

  • Able to access all areas within a site which could include heights of 180 feet, confined spaces, climbing ladders or stairs, and access tunnels.

  • Able to travel extensively and reside over a longer period in a specific work location related to the project work.

Required Experience and Education:Two to five years of engineering experience in the lime, cement, or mineral industry.Bachelor's degree in mechanical, structural, civil, or chemical engineering preferred.
