Primary Responsibilities

In the role of Transportation Planner 2, we'll count on you to:

  • Work closely with project managers and peers to deliver a variety of multimodal transportation planning projects
  • Lead projects, project tasks and delegate assignments to team members
  • Collect, assimilate and manage project-related data for transportation projects
  • Conduct technical analysis including but not limited to functional planning/design, multi-modal level of service analysis, freight planning, geospatial analysis, and general data analysis
  • Develop graphical interpretation of complex data analyses using tools such as ArcGIS, Adobe Illustrator, and/or In-Design, etc.
  • Assist in preparation and participation of public information meetings and hearings. Lead meetings if required
  • Regular coordination across disciplines (e.g., architecture, engineering, transportation planning, environmental planning, urban design, etc.)
  • Within a dynamic, team-focused environment, demonstrate a willingness to be flexible, collaborate, problem solve, innovate, and perform other duties as needed

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Urban and Regional Planning or closely related field
  • A minimum of 5 years experience with transportation planning and design
  • MS Office, CAD, ArcInfo/ArcView
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's in Urban and Regional Planning, or closely related field
  • Experience performing work for a variety of transportation focused clients, including DOTs, MPOs, local governments and transit agencies
  • Significant experience with GIS and other data analysis tools appropriate for planning tasks
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and modeling software
  • American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) or other relevant certification
  • Experience with transportation planning projects and programs at the local level, such a long-range planning, multimodal planning, active transportation (bicycle and pedestrian), and related subject areas.
  • Experience with presenting planning projects to stakeholders and/or leading or supporting community engagement efforts designed to gather input on planning projects
  • Knowledge of subject areas that affect transportation planning including environmental, sustainability, resiliency, economic and equity factors and considerations
  • Experience in GIS software, geospatial analysis, and graphical interpretation of complex data into materials for public consumption
  • Familiarity with planning policies and guiding documents
  • Fluency with MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of virtual engagement tools, and data collection methods and data analysis
  • Self-starter with great analytical, organizational, writing, research and communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and manage priorities in a dynamic work environment
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to travel
