Our greatest asset has been, and will continue to be, our people. We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of HR Analytics Lead in our Corporate Human Resources group based in Houston, TX.

As an HR Analytics Lead with Occidental Petroleum, you will practice data-driven human resources through analysis of human capital data and trends. You will maintain talent related data and dashboards using analytics tools such as SQL, Python, Power BI, etc. You will also develop and conduct organizational assessments to support data-driven management strategies and workforce planning objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with HR and business subject matter experts to identify opportunities for business improvement, selects the relevant sources of HR information, and formulates the right questions and problems. Identifies what data is available and relevant from multiple internal and external data sources.
  • Gathers business and HR customer requirements and presents recommendations and solutions. Implements numerical and analytical methods for solving problems using a combination of statistical models.
  • Implements data quality control and validation processes to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of data.
  • Develops and maintains data integration solutions to extract, transform, and load data from various sources into the database.
  • Partners with HR teams to create, redesign, or automate existing custom reports using SQL, ETL tools, such as Alteryx, relational databases, and data visualization tools, such as Power BI.
  • Engages in and drives continuous improvement of HR processes such as workforce planning, compensation planning, workforce metrics, succession planning, and performance calibrations.
  • Assists HR leadership with creating a business case for HR policies and interventions and assesses the effectiveness of those interventions.
  • Combines demographics, compensation, engagement, performance, and other HR data to analyze patterns and causal relations to build predictive models.
  • Creates project plans for new solutions, secures buy-in, tracks, and communicates progress to key stakeholders.
  • Stays current with emerging technologies and trends in the data analytics field and evaluates and recommends new tools and technologies to improve data infrastructure and processes.
  • Documents data processes, systems, and procedures, and trains other team members as needed.
  • Identifies and leverages available internal and external data sources, including new data collection processes.

Qualifications
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience experience
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and can manage multiple priorities.
  • Comfortable working both independently and on teams.
  • Experience gathering, documenting, and designing data requirements.
  • Strong quantitative, problem solving, and analytical skills with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including presentation skills.
  • Relational Databases: Proficiency with SQL and understanding of how to design and operate relational databases such as SQL Server.
  • ETL Tools: Ability to use ETL (extract, transform, load) tools like Alteryx and Power Automate to build data pipelines and workflows.
  • Programming Languages: Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R to build data pipelines and workflows.
  • Data Governance and Security: Understanding of data governance and security concepts to ensure data privacy, security, and compliance with regulations.
  • Data Visualization: Ability to use data visualization tools, like Power BI, to analyze and present data to stakeholders.
  • Advanced Analytics: Experience with the application of AI/ML and NLP is a plus.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or Computer Science. Master's degree is preferred.
  • Must have legal authorization to work in the US.
