Job Description
Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY
Assess, plan and implement treatment plans for breastfeeding mothers and infant needs. Develop a personalized plan of care for each couplet. Document accurately the medical history, medications, patient condition, care provided and patient's response t the interventions throughout the course of treatment. Incorporate families and patients in individualized patient education and discharge planning. Provide education to staff regarding breastfeeding and other pertinent issues using latest evidence based information. Collaborate with all hospital personnel to ensure effective communication about treatment plans for couplets.

Qualifications

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Education/Qualification
* Current RN licensure and able to practice in Texas. BSN preferred
* 2 years experience in maternal-child health nursing.

Certifications and Proficiencies

  • AHA or ARC BLS
  • NRP within 6 months of hire
  • Certification as a Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) preferred

*Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
*Effective interpersonal skills
*Ability to maintain confidentiality
*Ability to adapt to multiple and changing priorities
